Generative AI was undoubtedly the most important data moment of 2023, and created a level of excitement for our industry that will certainly continue to be felt in 2024. As we welcome the new year, I am thrilled to share that Qlik is hitting the ground running on that front: today we are announcing the acquisition of groundbreaking technology from Kyndi, an innovator in natural language processing, search, and generative AI.

Talk about an exciting start of the year for Qlik: in addition to providing our AI roadmap a boost, this week we also announced a fresh new look, all while we’re gathered for our annual global Sales Kickoff in Florida. It’s safe to say that while Orlando is a bit on the cool side this week, the warmth and vibrant energy inside our halls are certainly making up for it…

Indeed, the addition of Kyndi’s technology and incredible people comes on the heels of a great 2023 that included the introduction of Qlik Staige, a holistic set of solutions to help organizations build a trusted data foundation for AI and successfully implement and adopt AI. It will enable our customers to create more value from their data and unlock new use cases leveraging natural language understanding, natural language generation, and unstructured data curation.

What we’re acquiring

Qlik is acquiring not only Kyndi’s great technology, but we are also thrilled to welcome Kyndi CEO Ryan Welsh and their incredible team of leading AI experts, who are joining the company. Qlik has long held a leadership in its ability to assimilate and rapidly analyze structured data of all types and locations. The acquisition of Kyndi’s technology and expertise will provide Qlik generative AI technology on unstructured data to accelerate the expansion of our product portfolio.

Why it matters

We know that customers have untapped data sitting in unstructured documents. By all accounts, the rise of generative AI has compounded the problem, and the volume of unstructured data is predicted to double this year. Being able to interrogate this vast amount of information through natural language, extract key insights, and unlock new use cases through a familiar Qlik experience will offer new business value to our customers.

What’s coming next

This new technology will be tightly integrated into future AI offerings in Qlik Cloud. Please join us at Qlik Connect, where you will hear first hand about the latest developments, and see it all in action for the first time!
